What the USDA recall covers
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a voluntary recall of about 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products distributed under several brands, including Kayem, Al Fresco and others. The concern is possible temperature abuse during storage or transport. The recall notice was issued October 17, 2026.
This is a broad recall across listed products and production dates, not a recall of every item sold under any one brand. Check the exact product name, package, establishment number and best-by details against the official FSIS notice and product list. The notice identifies establishment marks including EST. M/P 7839, EST. P 20935A and EST. M 9520.
What consumers should do
Do not eat a product that matches the recall list. Follow the FSIS instructions to discard it or return it to the place of purchase. Clean surfaces that may have contacted the product. As of the notice, no illnesses had been confirmed; the agency’s action is precautionary and based on the stated temperature concern.

Why the recall matters
Ready-to-eat products may be eaten without further cooking, so proper temperature control is important. Consumers should use the official list rather than relying on brand name alone, and check packaging before serving or storing affected products.
