Tesla unveiled a redesigned Roadster on October 15, presenting a prototype with SpaceX-style cold-gas thrusters. The company said production is targeted for 2028, years after earlier timelines slipped.
What Tesla announced
Chief executive Elon Musk described the vehicle as a high-performance electric sports car and showed a demonstration concept. The thruster package is a proposed option; Tesla has not demonstrated a production-ready system or confirmed regulatory approval for road use.
The reveal revives a project first announced in 2017. Tesla has repeatedly delayed the Roadster, so the 2028 date should be treated as a target rather than a guaranteed delivery schedule. Final specifications, pricing and customer delivery details remain subject to change.
What buyers should know
Claims about acceleration and performance come from Tesla and should be weighed against independent testing once production vehicles exist. The company has not established that the car can fly. Its thruster concept is distinct from a conventional aircraft or road-legal flight system.
