Three late goals turn the game around
Paris Saint-Germain produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Strasbourg 3-1 away on Saturday, October 17, and move to the top of Ligue 1. Strasbourg led at halftime through Gio Reyna, whose shot took a deflection and beat goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.
PSG created chances but faced a stubborn home side. Ousmane Dembélé missed a second-half penalty, then quickly made amends: he delivered the cross that defender Ilya Zabarnyi converted to equalize. Dembélé later scored himself, before Désiré Doué added a third goal in stoppage time.
What the result means
The win gave PSG 14 points from seven matches and put the champions first on goals scored, ahead of Monaco before the latter’s Sunday fixture. Strasbourg remained 12th with seven points.
The match was also a test of squad depth. Coach Luis Enrique made eight changes from PSG’s midweek Champions League win at Manchester City. After a difficult first half, the substitutes helped shift the balance and PSG finished strongly.
